How to style Tartan and Stripes?

Sometimes I like pattern crush. I read a lot of styling tips about pattern crush. Some say that to style different pattern with similar or complimentary colour tone. Some say that to find some similarity of the different patterns to mix together, say different kind of tartan or different kind of stripes going together. I respect these theories and they really give a good hints how to make things pull together. However, occasionally I just mixing some irrelevant patterns. Like here I was crushing the red and blue tartan flannel with a black and white stripes top. Playing around for unexpected is the fun part of styling.

When the patterns are so strong and crushing, all others accessories got to be more silent. Here I went with a white sneakers and a black cross body bag. Though they are simple black and white, details are always crucial to add depth to your look.
